يتم إرسال رجل الراديو المضحك أدريان كروناور إلى فيتنام لإعادة القليل من الكوميديا إلى حياة الجنود. بعد إنشاء المتجر ، يسعد كروناور الجنود لكنه صدم ضابطه الأعلى ، الرقيب الرائد ديكرسون ، بأسلوبه غير الموقر في الحرب. بينما يحاول ديكرسون فرض الرقابة على برامج Cronauer الإذاعية ، يسعى Cronauer إلى إقامة علاقة مع فتاة فيتنامية تُدعى Trinh ، والتي تظهر له أهوال الحرب بشكل مباشر.
