В неделя, 14 ноември, 1965 г. в 10:48 ч., подполковник Хал Мур и младите му бойци се приземяват в зона Екс-рей в района на Ай Дранг, известен във Виетнам като “Долината на Смъртта”. Като човек, държащ на думата си, подполковник Мур стъпва пръв на бойното поле само за да открие, че заедно с 400-те си войници, е обграден от около 2000-на северовиетнамска войска.
