Übersicht
Im Jahr 2032 haben Androiden und Cyborgs die menschliche Rasse nahezu vollständig abgelöst und mysteriöse Morde rufen die beiden Ermittler Batou und Togusa der Sondereinheit „Sektion 9“ auf den Plan. Denn ein weibliches Cyborg-Modell, spezialisiert auf die Befriedigung triebgesteuerter Liebesbedürfnisse, tötet scheinbar wahllos seine Besitzer um anschließend Selbstmord zu begehen. Im Laufe der Ermittlungen werden die beiden Agenten mit eiskalten Yakuza-Mitgliedern, skrupellosen Schwarzmarkthändlern, zwielichtigen Regierungsmitgliedern und einem morbiden Computerhacker konfrontiert, bevor sie schließlich auf die abscheuliche Wahrheit hinter den Verbrechen stoßen. Auf der Suche nach den Hintermännern bekommt Batou auch unverhoffte Unterstützung von seiner ehemaligen Partnerin Major Motoko Kusanagi …
