Die Reise nach Tokio
Übersicht
Als Shukichi und Tomi nach langer Reise in Tokio ankommen, merken sie schnell, dass ihre beiden ältesten Kinder - Kōichi (Sô Yamamura) und Shige (Haruko Sugimura) - wenig Zeit für sie haben. Sohn Kōichi ist Arzt, Tochter Shige hat einen Schönheitssalon. Wirkliche Aufmerksamkeit bekommt das angereiste Seniorenpärchen nur von Noriko (Setsuko Hara), der Witwe des im Zweiten Weltkrieg gefallenen Sohnes. Shukichi und Tomi verbringen bloß wenige Tage in der Hauptstadt und werden von ihren Kindern danach in ein Seebad gebracht, wo es ihnen aber nicht gefällt. Auf dem Rückweg zu ihrem Heimatort wird Tomi schwer krank...
