H Μαρία, ο Χένρι και τα τρία τους παιδιά ταξιδεύουν στην Ταϊλάνδη, για ν’ απολαύσουν τις χριστουγεννιάτικες διακοπές τους στη γαλήνη ενός τροπικού παραδείσου. Το πρωί της 26ης Δεκεμβρίου όμως, και καθώς όμως η οικογένεια ξεκουράζεται γύρω από την πισίνα, μια τρομακτική βοή ακούγεται από το κέντρο της γης, και μια τεράστια μάζα σκοτεινών νερών σαρώνει τα πάντα στο πέρασμά της.
