Overview
1942, Párizs. Edmond Batignole visszahúzódó, konfliktus kerülő ember. Hentesüzletének egyedüli fizetőképes ügyfelei már csak a náci tisztek maradtak. Amikor két sonka ellopásáért megvádol egy zsidó kisgyereket, akaratlanul is felhívja rájuk a megszállók figyelmét. A családot deportálják, Batignolék a a céltudatos feleség nyomására beköltöznek az üresen maradt nagyobb házba. Egy napon az elhurcolt család gyermeke, Simon kopog ajtajukon. A hentes kelletlenül elszállásolja, de napokon belül egyre többen lesznek. Batignole kétségbeesetten próbál megszabadulni tőlük. Azonban minél több emberrel beszél kimenekítésükről, annál inkább rájön, hogy neki magának kell megtennie a veszélyes mentőakciót...
